A driver has escaped serious injuries and has been taken to Haast medical centre after their car went off the road and rolled.
A driver has escaped serious injuries after their car went off the road and rolled on Lake Ōhau Rd near Twizel.
Police were called at 10:30am following a report of a car on fire along a 17 kilometre stretch of Lake Ōhau Rd, between Ōhau Dr in the alpine village and State Highway 8.
“The car is reported to have gone off the road and rolled. The driver is reported to be out of the vehicle with no visible injuries,” a police spokesperson said.
Fire and Emergency NZ dispatched fire crews from Twizel and Omarama but a spokesperson said while they while did receive reports of a car fire, they did not find a fire on arrival.
“We just assisted the police at the scene,” the spokesperson said.
A St John spokesperson said the person has been by ambulance in a moderate condition to Ōamaru Hospital.
